I regret missing the MEA Conference this year, but I was there in spirit. Actually, I was there for part of it as a phantom. I watched the video stream provided by our Mexican hosts. Oh, what a blow being a phantom gave me!

I was able to video record most of Friday nights proceedings. I missed the beginning due to a confusion over time zones. But I did get most of Eric McLuhan’s speech, the awards and Lance Strate’s presentation…

Thanks to all involved in planning and executing the 8th Annual MEA convention! This was the first time I’ve attended an MEA convention, and I found it to be everything I’d hoped for: interesting speakers and presentations, great opportunities for conversation, and most of all, lots of stimulation for the mind. It was great to get to meet in person many of those with whom I’ve corresponded through the email list. I’m looking forward to Santa Clara already. Kudos to Fernando, Thom, and everyone who was involved.

Ditto Joe Kim’s thoughts. The conference was great fun and a great learning experience. What a pleasure to put faces for the first time on familiar names (Anne Pym, Davis Foulger, Ed Tywoniak, Donna Flayhan, Tony Kelso, Barry Liss), to see well-known faces (Lance, Casey, Tom, Sue Barnes, Janet Sternberg, Phil Rose, Brian Cogan), and to make the acquaintance of so many Media Ecologists (Edison Gastaldo, Fernando Gutierrez, Sheila Nayar, and so many others) that I never knew…

Dear Fernando,

Let me just thank you again for the stimulating conference and the marvelous hospitality during my visit last week. It was a pleasure to meet you and to learn a bit about your university and its programs. And I certainly hope that we will see each other again in the future.

Yours sincerely,

I am still recovering from an amazing and magnificent convention. With over 700 attendees, it was by far our biggest. With the Governor of the State of Mexico and the owner/CEO of one of Mexico’s leading national newspapers, El Universal, among the attendees, welcoming the MEA to Mexico, it was by far our most prestigious. And given that it was bilingual and incorporated a tour of several city sites and a trip to the pyramids, it was by far our most elaborate.

Many, many thanks–gracias, gracias, gracias–to Fernando Gutiérrez and his colleagues at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Estado de México, for their enthusiasm, hard work, tremendous hospitality, and extraordinary generosity.

This was a truly historic event!

… Yes, it was a tremendous convention! Thanks to Fernando, Thom, Lance and all who made it happen. I will always have fond regards for Mexico and all the the kind and dedicated people who put the event together.

As Peter said, it was also so nice to meet new people and put names to faces.
Congratulations to everyone and Mucho Gracias!

Hi Fernando I wanted to thank you personally for the wonderful conference that you organized. All the efforts you made on our behalf were greatly appreciated. I hope to see you at the next MEA conference and in Cuidad de Mexico. I stayed in Zona Rosa for two days after the conference and had a fabulous time.

All the best –

Hi, Many thanks and gracias have been given to which I want to add my own, and in particular, as a first timer in MEA conventions, I want to acknowledge the organizers work in Mexico (Arturo, Fernando and Octavio, and their team work) and to the MEA board. It was a great conference that offered the opportunity to know the different perspectives under discussion regarding media and to share with colleagues from different academic backgrounds. Thanks to Bob Logan, Greg, David, Susan, Robert, Patricia, Janet, Adrianna, Edison and many others with whom I shared. The best for all of you.
